Royal Orient Train is a fascinating train which is all set to offer its passengers a royal experience. Its opulence makes it among the most luxurious trains of the world. The highlight of the train is its royal richness, providing an opportunity to feel and taste the Raj culture. A royal sojourn takes you to the culturally rich states of Rajasthan and Gujarat.

This popular luxury train offers eight days and seven nights' journey for a memorable experience. The royal expedition takes passengers through Delhi, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Junagarh, Veraval, Somnath, Sasan Gir National Park, Ahmedpur, Mandvi, Palitana, Sarkhej, Ahmedabad and Jaipur. The journey comes up with a perfect opportunity to enjoy sight-seeing tours and desert safaris for a unique experience.

History

The Royal Orient Train is entrusted with profusion that stimulates the sense of royalty. This luxury train is developed on the theme of Palace on Wheels. The train started as a joint venture between the Tourism Corporation of Gujarat and the Indian Railways in 1994-95.

India Gate

Day 01 - Wednesday: Delhi

Departure - Delhi Cantonment - 1500 Hrs.
You start your memorable journey on the Royal Orient at Delhi Cantt. Railway station, in the evening at 15.00 hrs. You are served with tea and Dinner on board and stay on luxury train, overnight.

Day 02 - Thursday: Chittorgarh, Udaipur

Arrival - Chittaurgarh - 0630 Hrs - Departure Chittaurgarh - 0915 Hrs.
Arrival - Udaipur - 1215 Hrs Departure - Udaipur - 1830 Hrs
After arriving at Chittorgarh in the morning you are ready to visit the famous Chittorgarh Fort and come back to the train for breakfast. Then depart for Udaipur and have your lunch in a hotel there. After lunch you start up your sightseeing tour around Udaipur. Here you visit City Palace, boating in Lake Pichola, see Shilpgram - a craft village- and Royal Gardens. Then you come back to the Royal Orient and leave for Mehsana.

Day 03 - Friday: Mehsana, Ahmedabad, Junagarh, Veraval

Junagarh Fort

Arrival - Junagarh - 1400 Hrs Departure - Junagarh - 1600 Hrs
Arrival - Veraval - 1800 Hrs
After reaching Mehsana in Gujarat in the morning, you are ready to visit graceful destinations of Mehsana and Ahmedabad. You visit the Sun Temple at Modhera, the Rani ki Vav and the Patola weaving Center at Patan. In Ahmedabad you have lunch at a hotel. Here you visit the Adalaj Vav, Sidi Sayyad Mosque, Calico Textile Museum, and Gandhi Ashram. In Junagarh you visit Ashokan Rock Edict of 3rd century B.C., Darbar Hall Museum and Mausoleum of Nawab Mahabat Khan. After reaching at Veraval you visit famous Somnath temple situated on the shore of the Arabian Sea.

Day 04 - Saturday: Sasangir, Ahmedpur, Mandvi

Departure - Veraval - 0500 Hrs Arrival - Sesangir - 0630 Hrs
Departure Sesangir – 1130 Hrs Arrival Dilwara - 1430 Hrs Departure Dilwara - 2005 Hrs
After having your breakfast on board you leave for a tour of the Gir Lion sanctuary, where you can spot the famous Asiatic Lion. Then you are taken to Delwada from where you can go to see and enjoy the natural beauty of famous Ahmedpur-Mandvi beach, Diu Fort and St. Paul's Cathedral.

Day 05 - Sunday: Palitana, Sarkhej

Arrival - Palitana - 0740 Hrs - Departure  Palitana 1230 Hrs - Arrival Sarkhej - 1905 Hrs.
After arriving at Palitana you are ready to visit the Jain temples at Shatrunjaya Hills. Then you start your journey for Sarkhej and here you visit Vishalla village. Then you have your dinner at a hotel and return to the train to stay overnight as it travels to Ahmedabad.

Day 06 - Monday: Ahmedabad

Departure Ahmedabad - 1405 Hrs
Breakfast on board. Site seeing of Ahmedabad - Adalaj Stepwell, Gandhi Ashram, Clico Museum of textiles, Sidi Sayed's Mosque, Shopping etc.
Lunch at hotel. Departure? for Jaipur. Evening Tea and dinner served on board.

Hawa Mahal

Day 07 - Tuesday: Jaipur

Arrival Jaipur - 1115 Hrs - Departure Jaipur - 2130 Hrs.
As the train reaches Jaipur the next morning, you are set for a memorable tour of Jaipur, famously known as The Pink city. Here you visit the Hawa Mahal, the City Palace and Jantar Mantar (a famous observatory). Then you can enjoy an elephant ride up to Amber Fort. Then after having your dinner on board you are ready to depart for Delhi.

Day 08 - Wednesday: Delhi

Arrival Delhi Cantt - 0740 Hrs
You have your breakfast on board and reach Delhi Cantt. Railway station in the morning. Here your journey of lifetime comes to its conclusion.

Schedule

The Royal Orient Train operates between September to April from Delhi Cantonment on every Wednesday of the week. The train is in operation for certain period in order to maintain its high standards. During the non-operation period train is thoroughly renovated, furnished and maintained.

Facilities

Accommodation

The Royal Orient Train has 13 blue coloured coaches, which are amalgamated in a beautiful way to represent the cultural legacy of the regions covered by the train on its way. All the coaches were well maintained with all the necessary sophisticated amenities with 5 star categories. These coaches are named after the erstwhile royal kingdoms.

Each saloon also includes a kitchenette and four cabins with a well-maintained attached bathroom with hot and cold running water. The layout of each cabin reflects the touch of royalty. Each cabin or coupe of the luxury train can accommodate three passengers but generally, only two passengers are accommodated in every coupe.

Attendants

There are two attendants in each saloon to serve you round the clock.

Restaurants:

The Royal Orient offers two restaurants cars that serve delicious and exotic traditional Indian, Gujarati, Rajasthani, Chinese and Continental cuisines. The menu of this modern pantry includes the best vegetarian and non-vegetarian delicacies along with hot and cold beverages.

Bar

A well-stocked bar named 'The Watering Hole' is available inside the train to serve you both Indian as well as international brands of alcohol. It remains open round the clock and offers scotch, liquors, Indian malt whiskeys, vodkas, wines and rums.

Lounge

A beautiful lounge is there, which is fitted with colour TV and CD player to offer a pleasurable experience to its passengers. Each cabin includes music channel speakers to allow passengers to listen to the music of their choice. This lounge offers fabulous views of countryside during the daytime. It is combined with a well stocked library with books on diverse subjects, newspapers and magazines.

While travelling by the Royal Orient, you can enjoy a host of cultural programmes on reaching various destinations. The train passes through colourful states of Gujarat and Rajasthan which offers you an opportunity to catch the glimpses of the life, traditions, customs, arts, cuisines, festivals and architectures of the place. The vibrant and energetic performance of Gujarat's Dandiya and Garba dance also leaves the passengers mesmerized.
